I know his network key but not sure what exactly to do. Ive tried different things but nothing seems to work. I also have a wireless thing built into my sony vaio, therefore i can pick up wireless connection when its around, but for some reason my dads isnt even viewable on my network connection. PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance. |

We need more information on the router and firewall to give you a definitive answer.

It's likely that in a feeble attempt to secure the network, he's disabled SSID broadcasts. That will just make it harder for you to use the network, not really keep hackers out. The only real security for wireless nowadays is WPA/WPA2 encryption.
Please supply the make/model of the router, and what kind of encryption you're attempting to setup. If it's WEP, use ONLY the hex keys, the ASCII keys are frequently intrepreted differently for different brands of wireless equipment.

Try entering the SSID of casa in and enabling WPA encryption with the (taken out for privacy) key.

Your dad's computer has nothing to do with the link between you and the router. You'd put the SSID into the wireless configuration on your computer, the router already knows what it is.

it doesnt pop up because ur dad chose it to not be vieable.
u need to go in there and search for the network with the casa or what ever the SSID is. then add it and configure the WPA key.

Run the wizard. Right click on the wireless icon in the system tray, View available wireless networks, Setup new wireless connection. Follow your nose from there.
