Sharing Cable-modem through a router with no ''WAN'' jacks?

I have a Cable modem and a Thomson SpeedTouch510 router. This router has 4 RJ45 jacks and 1 RJ11 jack. I am told that I just have to conect my cable-modem to the ''WAN'' jack in the router and then connect my pcs to the other RJ45 jacks. But the problem is that on this router the WAN jack is RJ11 (normal phone line). So someone said that I can still use this router but I would have to tell it which RJ45 cable is going to the cablemodem. So is this possible and how would I go about doing it?

Thanks

PS: I'm sure I will be able to contribute to this forum as I am a hardware junkie :D (just not so good with network stuff)

You can't use that router with in your present configuration, since you have no access to the router section. All you really have is a four port switch if you disable the DHCP server on the router.

The modem/router is designed for ADSL only. Not cable.

• 10/100Base-T (RJ45)
• MDI/MDI-x autosensing
