Cry The 3 Devils...

Here's the big conflict.

I have in my home 3 PC's, a linksys wireless router, and a satellite connection. The PC's are equipped with a Professional, Media Center, and Home Editions of XP. I think this is the main reason why I am having so much trouble trying to get these 3 to file share and use a printer through the MC PC.

I've successfully got all 3 PC's the ablility to use the internet. File sharing is all but nil to use. Everytime you set up a network, and restart and try to look at the others through workgroup, you get nothing OR it tells you that your permissions are not set right.

So here's where I get a little lost. Permissions are different on each version of XP... just wondering where you go. All PC's can ping each other and view the web, I can't however file share or use a Printer thats connected to the MC PC.

Penny for your guys's thoughts?

There are close to 3000 error messages in Windows Networking, of which over 600 have the word 'Permission' in the text. It wold help for the next time if you report back any error number and any error text.

I am going to guess: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318030

On each computer: Start, Run, net user Guest /active:yes

Then, follow the Simple File Sharing model: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...ilesharing.htm
