No Web or mail but can Ping the internet

Following on from the issues described in this thread I have the same symptoms on the desktop.

Problem: I can connect to the LAN, ping the gateway, ping internet IP's but cannot surf or collect mail. Typing IP addresses into the browser also does not work.

System is running XP SP2. WLAN connection to WRT54G router. IP addresses were being assigned by DHCP - now manually allocated.

Tried netsh winsock reset / reboot.

Tried netsh interface ip reset all

IPconfig shows correct address of 192.168.1.102, Gateway OK and DNS Servers.

Everything seems fine and ICMP ping gets responses from the internet. Sp why can I not surf, resolve domain names or collect mail?

Start, Run, cmd

netsh diag gui

Check all options. Run the diagnostic. Post the results back to the Forum.
