How network friendly is XP Home?

Hello all! I just need to know how network friendly XP Home edition is. Can mapped drives and advance features like that be used?

Reasoning is I bought a comp today for work and I went to 2 Best Buys, a cuirct city, compusa, and abc warehouse and no one had a machine with XP Pro on it. BTW, I needed the machine today so I couldn't order one. Anyways, I need general networking features like TCP/IP (which I know it can do), mapped network drives, etc. I'm asking before I open the box to avoid any return hassles if need be.

XP home running this end.

I have also set up a number of Peer to peer XP home networks. All seems to work quite well.

I agree with Changeling, it works just fine no issues here too

The thing that XP-Home can't do is domain logons, which I doubt you'll be concerned with in a home network.

DANG!! That is one thing I need it to do....I had to purchase a computer today for a co-worker so it needs to be on our domain at work....shoot...oh well, I'll figure something out. I haven't even opened it yet so I can still return it w/o problems.

You will need XP-Pro for that.
