I need a little help!
Hey all, im having problems with my network, but it could be my modem, so if this isnt in the right forum dont punish me.
Heres my story... I use a network to connect to the internet. Yesterday I unplugged the modem of the "main" computer, and took it into another room. A few hours later I put the modem back, and plugged everything in, but it seems my network will not work now. The modem is only a month or two old, and I use the ethernet port at the back of the modem to connect to the network, instead of using the back of the computer. Now when I put my cable in (all the cables are working) the modem just doesnt pick up the cable. My router picks up the cable connecting my computer, but not from the "main" computer to the router. I have checked and rechecked the cables, and swapped everything around, but I have a feeling it might be the actual modem, not a networking problem. Could somebody help me out? Thanks -Josh |

You appear to be connected to a router, although it's an odd address. Can you ping 10.0.0.138? Is that the gateway you see on the working computer?
I see a "network bridge" there, so I'm curious exactly how this is configured. Please describe all the connections to the modem and the router.

It is the 32-year lease that bothers me.
Your ISP Big Pond, AU is a little odd in the way it does things. If you replace modem or router, make sure they are Big Pond capable as not all are. I cannot tell from your information if you are using Big Pond cable, or Big Pond ADSL service. In any case the links to start with can be found at the bottom here: http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...isplay=content .
