Windows 2003 / Dial-up
Hello.
I have installed windows 2003 yesterday. My goal is to have a dial-up user dial my computer and able to connect to the internet for free. Client computer is far enough that I cannot use NIC cards and Cable. or wireless. I have created a user for the client, then he calls my computer and connects me. his IP address is 192.168.1.6 and mine is 192.168.1.3 But I not't know why he cannot surf, connect to yahoo messenger and ping any host on the internet. Please do NOT suggest me to use wireless or share my internet over LAN. I want to use this way. My system is P3 800 , connected to ADSL trough a adsl modem and a NIC card and I have a valid ip from my ISP. An internal modem connected to phone line will provide access to my client. I have enabled REMOTE ACCESS/VPN SERVER, Domain Controller and DHCP Server on my 2003. I think dial-up account does not receive gate way info or I have misconfigured 2003 to grant access to him. Would you please tell me step by step way to do this? Thank you very much.

Since Windows 2003 Enterprise enabled Remote access/VPN server ICS is not required. First I had used ICS but when trying to enable this service windows prompted me to disable ICS, ICF and incoming connections. I have to do something in remote access and NAT to make it work. Thanks

VPN is not equal to internet access on the remote VPN endpoint.
You have a local subnet IP assigned by DHCP, and a Gateway address pointing to the Win2003 server. And thats it. You have to provide a route to the internet. That is where ICS comes in.
