Cry file sharing problems bt 12502wire Gateway HELP!

hi im using a bt 1250 router with 2wire gateway i have two computers one laptop and one computer (both dell, both wireless connection). Ive set all the files i want to share as sharable, ive tried turning off every bit of security i can (including firewalls such as xp and zone alarm), but for some reason i cannot connect to either computers shared files says it can't connect to the ip xx.xx.xxx.xx. other than that internet ect works.

You are not trying to connect to the users "Shared Folders" are you?
You mean a folder Share, yes?

Start, Run, CMD
net view <----- report back here any error numbers and text
net view \\your_computer_name <---- report back here any error numbers and text
net view \\the_other_computer_name <---- report back here any error numbers and text
