Network inaccessible
Sometime during busy hours in the office, me and my colleagues couldn't access the network's file server stating something like "too many connections, try later".
At most there's only about 8 clients connected through a Planet 2401 switch and the server is a normal PC running on XP Pro. Could anyone help me advice on what's the problem and how do i get rid of the clog? |

A "Workgroup" will only allow up to 10 concurrent connections. If you need more connections, you will have to upgrade your XP server to Win2K3 and set up a domain.

I am already planning to upgrade it to Win server 2003 and probably I need some help setting it up. So far I have never even seen what more use a server and I dont know what am i to expect. Is it much different from XP?
Also I've purchased a server w/ the latest duo core ship from Dell and it's expected to arrive next week. (drool.. i love tech though i'm stil not so geek yet) On the other hand, do you think that the traffice congestion could be caused by hardware? |

Window server will let you have as many connection that you will have CALs for. Plus, when you set up a domain environment, you can set up OUs and apply group policies to the domain and/or groups. It will let you centralize administration for your network. |
