wireless networking problem
I am having trouble connecting 2 devices wirelessly to my network. One is a HP Deskjet 6840 network printer and the other is an Apple MacBook.
Network description: Cable modem(Comcast)-LinkSys router(DHCP server)-Netgear FS105 switch-Cisco Aironet 1200 Wireless Access Point I am currently able to connect 2 desktops and 1 laptop to the WAP regularly with no problem. Visitors to the house have had no problems connecting to the WAP either. I recently got the HP printer. It prints when connected via ethernet with out issue. When I tried to connect wirelessly there is a problem. The printer does not seem to get past the WAP. The printer is configured with a static IP. It is not pingable from another PC on the network. The printer is shown to be a client when I check the http management GUI of the WAP. When I telnet the WAP and try to ping from command line, there are no responses. The problem w/ the Apple laptop is very similar. First I tried connecting wirelessly using DHCP. The laptop sees the SSID of the WAP and even associates with it but does not get an IP address. The WAP displays the MAC address of the laptop with 0.0.0.0 IP then the auto assign 169. IP after the laptop DHCP timeout. When I tried assigning a static IP, the WAP would display the assigned IP. The laptop would not respond to ping from the network or WAP command line. Can anyone please help me? |
