What IP address are you wanting to restore?
If you connect to the internet directly via a modem, the IP address will be allocated automatically by the ISP's DHCP server. If you connect via a LAN and a router, either the IP address will be allocated by the router's DHCP server or you use a manually configured fixed IP address in the same subnet as the router. To allocate a fixed IP address to your network adapter (Local Area Connection or Wireless Network Connection) right click its entry in the Network Connections folder and select Properties. Highlight the line for "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click the Properties button. Click "Use the following IP address" and enter your settings. If all you are trying to do is "renew" an incorrect address, 0.0.0.0 or a 169.254 APIPA address, in the Command Prompt window run: IPCONFIG /RELEASE to "release" the incorrect address and set it to 0.0.0.0 then run: IPCONFIG /RENEW to force a renewal of the address from a DHCP server. |
