Can a Wireless router be a Wireless WAP?
I have seen lots of discussion on setting up a 2nd router as just a WAP and switch by connecting it with cat 5 to the router. But can a Linksys WRT54G be used as a WAP and have no wired connection to the router? I am really just trying to avoid cables at all and need to connect devices that don't have wireless. Since I have 2 wireless routers, this would be the easiest solution if it can work.

Nope. You need a device that's configurable as a wireless bridge. Some models do so, but I don't bee anything about yours that indicates it has that capability.
