My System

Internet Connection Sharing + Speedstream 5660

Hello

I am having trouble connecting to the internet via the internet connection sharing. I am behind the mentioned router/modem, which connects to my dsl. (Dynamic IP, username, password, etc.)

I have the host PC hooked up to this modem.
I also have my laptop hooked up to the PC through a crossover and an PCI NIC card on the PC.
Whenever I set the ICS up the only place I can reach in IE (on the laptop) is 10.0.0.1 which is default for the router.
I can also ping outside IP's.
If I type in the (actual) DNS server in the laptop's connection properties, IE will actually convert the URL (www.msn.com) to an IP. Then it says opening "..." but gets nowhere.
Just for the fun of it, "tracert" dies out after it leaves the router/modem.
Oh, and all this, while the Host PC has no issues with the internet connection.

How could I get this to work?

-off to find the manual...

Since the Speedstream 5660 is a router, why not buy a simple Ethernet switch and dispense with ICS? ICS is a major PITA to live with, you'll be much happier with your $15 switch and separate connections. Here's one of many pages on how to configure it: http://www.ocworkbench.com/articles/...ream5660p2.htm
