weird connection issue.
ok, heres the deal, i play warcraft iii, and i cant host games because of something with my computer/internet connection. i have opened ports and everything im supposed to do, but it still doesnt work. i have gotten my other computer to be able to host games with the same settings, so i dont know what the deal is. i tried uninstalling my norton firewall, turning off the windows firewall, port triggering, port forwarding, and finally i just tried bypassing my router all together and going straight to the modem. this is where my internet connection stopped working all together. it seems my computer only wants to work when its connected to a router. i remember this being the case with our old router as well. is there something wrong with my computer? because i used to be abe to host, and it used to work just connecting straight to the modem, but it doesnt anymore. any help is greatly appreciated, and any questions you may have i am willing to answer to my best knowledge..
thanks a lot in advance, and i hope someone has a solution!! |

Are you obtaining an IP address automatically from the router or did you tell Windows to use a specific IP address?
Go into Control Panel>network connections and find your adapter. Right Click on it, go to Properties, and then go to TCP/IP properties. You should have it set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS servers. If it's not like this this would explain it not working when not on the router. BMR777
