limited or no connectivity
I have a win xp pro and when I connect lately I have been receiving this error. I disabled the firewall, check the ethernet and the ip was 169.x.x.x, I know thats a windows auto ip. I have sb5120 motorolla surfboard and isp is comcast. I have reset settings and disabled certain programs
advice needed

I'd start by checking the cable, and trying a new one if you have one. If you're sure the cable is OK, then try this Automated WINSOCK Fix for XP, reboot and test.
If that doesn't do it, do this: TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2. For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log
