EEK! PC connections

Hi I have a ntl broadband connection.
My question is, I have a modem with a hub connected to it, which allows you to have two connections, I have my pc and my son has his xbox 360, we both play online at the same time.
My son is buying a pc aswell, the question is if I take his xbox connection from the hub and replace it with his pc (he wants to play xbox and pc at different times) can I use the xbox ip address for his pc ?
I am aware that I am paying a little extra through ntl for the ip address that my son uses for his xbox, is it possible to use the same ip address.
Or will his computer pick this up automaticly ?
Please I have some knowledge of computers but am a little confused in the connection side.
Thanks

It should pick up the second device automatically. You may have to power cycle the modem for it to recognize the new device, but that should do it.

If you encounter difficulties, you could always consider a broadband router, then you could connect all the devices you liked.

Like I said, you MUST power cycle the modem to change the attached devices.

Ok thanks, when you say power cycle I gather you mean turn it off then on.
Thanks for your advise.

Yep, turn it off for 15 seconds or more.
