Question Connecting

Hi everyone
I saved this Web site in my favorites thinking I may need it some day. Glad I did and I hope someone can help.

Whenever I start up my computer and try to get on-line I get an error message and I'm not able to connect, so what I do is put the Gateway System Restoration CD in and reinstall the 56K PCI Voice Modem SF-1156IV restart the computer and then I'm able to connect.

Could someone please give me some insight because this is a real pain in the you know what. Thanks alot

By the way this is for Win98

Sorry for the delay

What is the error message you are recieving when you try to connect?
It seems you keep losing your modem drivers.
Next time this happens, go into the Device Manage and expand the modem, check for any error codes and post them here.
Also it wouldnt hurt to open the case (powered down of course) and reseat the modem. It may have chip creep which what it does it work its way out of the slot. Chip creep happens from the metal in them heating and cooling over and over again, and walking themselves free.
