wireless on?

hi, i have a sony vaio w/ win xp & a LAN-express AS IEEE 802.11g miniPCI adapter card. how do i tell if my card is on or not?

I'll bite. What are you attempting to connect to? Do you see the wireless network icon in the system tray? Do you see the wireless card in Device manager?

yes i c the icon in the tray & the card is in the device manager & it says its working.
im trying 2 connect 2 a hotspot i have used b 4.
when i click refresh network conect. list it doesnt say its searching 4 a network connect. .
how do i know if the internal card is actually on?

Since Device Manager says it's working, it's probably on.

Try this Automated WINSOCK Fix for XP. Reboot and test.

If that doesn't do it, try this:

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log
