Modem Crashes

Every once in a while I have to run down to my basement to reset my modem, because my internet goes down. I think this is caused by p2p sharing like limewire any way to get my modem to not shut off?

welll i'm not good with LAN and Modems i had the same problem yesterday again . i duno what happned all the light on my modem were on but i couldn't get connectivity with my network . so i disconnected everything used a new ethernet cable then left it alone over night and this morning everything was fine.as for port forwarding i'm guessing not sure but guessing that that u can find that in your network connections in your control panel .try a new cord that was my problem .if not i recommned u get a new modem because modems are known to be damaged after a period of time randomly. but good luck . google around you'll find something.
