DSL disconnecting issue
Well I am currently using Verizon DSL with a Westell 2200 modem. I've never had any major problems with my connection before, but recently I have gotten disconnected after every hour for 45 minutes or more. The connection is fine in terms of speed and all when it goes back up, but I get disconnected over and over all day long. When I get disconnected, the DSL light on my modem flashes slowly.
I have contacted Verizon several days ago; they said it must be either the splitter or the cable connecting the modem to the jack. However, it seems as if the splitter in my phone jack is somehow attached to it, so I don't know how I can test my connection without it. Since I'm not particularly handy with all this technical stuff, I'd appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks. |

past experiances
well my friend had the same problem. it turned out that his flouresant lamp was close to the modem which caused problems. when he got rid of the lamp in his room and the problem went away. Also make sure that the modem, and the phonejack are at least 2 ft away from each other .That info helped out my friend see what it can do for u . if that doesn't help try to get a tech to check it out at your crib . they'll solve it. Good luck . I know how stressing that can be .

could be because of a few reasons, interference is one of them as mentioned above, ensure that you have all non dsl equiptment disconnected and see if it still drops, E.g digital TV Fax etc..
Are you losing sync when this happens? your filter/splitter could also be at fault, if you have a spare, you could use that, you dont actually have to have a filter connected to access the internet, however you wont be able to use the phone, in basic terms the splitter ensures the frequencys to not interfere with each other, so you could try without a splitter to see if it still drops.
