Dell Lat. D610 NIC works everywhere except home!

Hello,

I have a WEIRD problem that should be easy for you folks...

I have a company issued Dell Latitude D600 that has a combo NIC/Wireless G card. It works fine at the office (both wired and wireless) and workED fine at home before I replaced my dead old router (Linksys 802.11B) with new router (Belkin 54G)

Now, at home, only the wireless works on the laptop, but the WIRED PORT DOES NOT. I get the "limited connectivity, etc" error with no pinging ability.

The thing is, the wired ports work fine on my home desktop, just not at my laptop. I tried all the ports for my desktop, and they work. I tried all the ports for my laptop, no go. So, I really dont know what the problem could be. I dont think its the router, b/c my desktop wired connection works fine all ports, and the wireless works fine as well. I dont think its my laptop, b/c the wired connection works fine at friends houses, at the office, etc. But obviously something is wrong, b/c the router and my laptop "aren't talking" thru the cat5...

Does anyone have any idea?

Have you tried a new cable, and a new port on the router?

Yep, tried a new cable at the early stages of this trouble-shooting.

This is the most bizarre connection problem i've ever faced...

I plug in the wire, it says "acquiring network address" for about 20 seconds, then... nothing ("limited connectivity..")

Both pieces of hardware (laptop and router) seem to be fine, just not with each other (sounds like an old relationship..)

Help (!)

I've run across this with a couple of laptops. Try inserting a cheap hub or switch between them and see if that makes them see each other.
