D-link wireless problems...
i have a rather unusal problem... i am connected to a home network via a wireless internet card, and it works fine, except when my mother's laptop is also connected to the home network
when she is connected, i still have access but i eventually drop out. it is worse when she is using it, and it isnt just idle, but its still pretty bad. usually, all i have to do to bring it back in is restart my computer, so i think it is software, maybe? i dunno about the specs for the laptop, or the router, but i have a d-link Airplus G DWL-G510 wireless PCI adapter(rev.b). also, as a note, the router is at one end of the house, and i am in the middle, there is a few walls between me, and my mothers laptop is inbetween. also, my sister has a computer right down the other end of the house, and she just randomly d/c's all the time, but hers sometimes starts back up without resetting. any solutions to either of these problems? |

See if there is an updated firmware. ONLY UPDATE WITH A WIRED CONNECTION. My router does the same thing and a firmware update fixed it, but that screwed up my webserver settings so I had to revert back to the factory original.

Do NOT try to update your router from a wireless connection.

apparently, yes we do. however, the problem existed before then. its been this way ever since i swapped to a wireless connection. but like i said, it works fine when my mother's laptop is turned off, so that is probably where the problem lies
is it possible that it is caused by the two wireless connections interfering with each other? her does not drop out, but then again it is pretty much a few meters from the router. |

just an update...
yes, it appears that we have our router doing firmware updates every now and then. also, i am trialing changing my settings from 802.11b/g to just 802.11b frequency. so far so good... still, if anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this, im happy to try. my way probably wont do scratch |
