ISP Bandwidth Question

When our ISP provides us the limited bandwidth, does that imply the speed of our transfer rate or does that imply how much we can transfer for each month? Or is it both? Just a question.

Those would be two separate numbers. Let's say you have a 1 mbit cable line. That is the fastest download you could possibly have (per second). Now, there are some providers that limite your bandwidth usage, i.e. the amount you upload and download over a certain period of time. Some colleges limit bandwidth usage, including the one I am going to next year.

Are you familiar with or heard of SBC Yahoo DSL or Pacific Bell ISP? I have a DSL whose ISP is Pacific Bell not COX cable. Does PB limit bandwitdh usage over a certain period of time?

I have a Comcast account that is specified as 6000/384. This is the download/upload speeds, and they have no published limitations on amount of data transfered.
