SpeedStream 5360 and Enternet 300

I use a SpeedStream 5360 modem to connect to the internet through SBC. the powerlight is on and the 3 other lights flash continuously. i have read online that this means there was a modem failure and it was caused by an incompatibility between my modem and enternet 300 v1.5b. problem is enternet is no longer supported by EfficientNetworks and neither is my modem. I have been using this modem for years and this is the first time the problem has occurred. Why now? also, other sources tell me the only solution is to buy a new modem. is that true?

note: for the past year or so I have been using a netgear router as well if that makes any difference.

Well, if you changed the device attached to the modem, you need to power cycle the modem, could that be the issue?

Have you connected directly to the modem with a computer to see if that works? If so, I'd say the modem is working.

the modem does not work even when connected directly to the pc. it has also been powercycled many times since i got the router.

I guess those sources are correct, the modem may indeed be bad.
