Wireless crashes laptop, hardwired is fine.
First of all; my apologies if I've got this wrong; I've also posted this in the laptops thread as I don't know where the problem might be - if double posting is not allowed, please let me know.
I have an Acer Aprire 1501LMi that runs perfectly well until I try to connect to my wireless router (Linksys WAG54G) it will then run for up to half an hour, before I get black screen shut-down. No warning, no error messages - it is NOT overheating (monitored). I have tried everything I can think of - even installing a new hard drive, all with no cure. I have always had a fully up-to-date firewall (on router) and anti-virus, as well as anti-spyware. Acer won't help, and I can't send the thing back, as I need it every day! I'm running XP Home with SP2, the wireless adaptor is a broadcom 802.11g mini module (internal). The other laptop in the house has an intel wireless adaptor, which has no problems. I do know what I'm doing with computers on the whole, and am mystified by this. I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions. Thank you. Sorry - edited here. . . . It seems to crash whenever I try to download files, or post topics on a forum etc . . . then when I restart, it says that there's no wireless connection, and I lose either the relevant icon from my tray, the actual connection from network connections, or both! The following is my HJT log.
