dlink g604t wireless connection problems

Hi,

I'm having some connection problems with my dlink wireless router - basically when I power up my pc from cold the wireless dongle seems to have problems connecting to the wireless router which is only 5 meters across the living room!!! - last night it took about half hour before it found a connection and again this morning- once it finds the connection the signal strength is classed as 'exellent' - if i then switch off my pc and restart - it connects immediately with no problem. Has anyone else out there having a similar problem ?

Thanks

phil

Sounds like you have some sort of interference issue. It would help if you gave us make/model of the router, the wireless adapter, and the version/patch level of Windows in use. Have you looked for common interference items, wireless phones, microwave ovens, or other wireless equipment?

My System

Hi,

Interference crossed my mind also - tried turning off the Baby monitor - this didn't help - never crossed my my to think about the the portable digital radio phone though.

I'm running a dlink g604t wireless router to a dwlg122 dongle - hardware rev1 - firmware v1.00 - windows xp to sp2.

Not sure of firmare rev's for the router i'll try and fid out..

Hmmm I live in a house with neighbours quite close - wonder if they have had any new wireless toys for Christmas.....?

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

I have exactly the same symptoms. I'm using the same router and USB wireless adapter but I'm running on a DELL laptop with Windows 2000 pro.

Cheers, Chris.

Suggest you look at the D-Link support page for more info.

There appears to be a number of hardware versions and there are some drivers dated as late as Dec 2005.

You may need to update your driver and you may also have an issue with Windows Wireless Zero, which I do not use if there are other options.
