EEK! linksys adsl2mue connection problems

I have a linksys adsl2mue modem and an alcatel 330 modem i use the linksys to connect my pc and xbox to the internet. if im playing online games i have no problems, but if i want to surf the internet i have to swap to the alcatel and this stops the xbox connecting as that refuses to recognise the alcatel, and the linksys wont browse it just tries to connect to site 1.0.0.0. Help please

Whenever you changed the attached device on a broadband modem, you need to power cycle the modem.

Why not use a router and connect both devices permanently?
