Intermittent connectivity on DSL

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 connected to SBC DSL via a Speedstream 5100(ethernet cable) at work and a 2Wire 1800 (wireless or ethernet cable, problem still the same) at home. Three week ago I started having trouble at home surfing getting:"Page Can Not be Displayed" and "Action Cancelled". When I looked at my Local Area Connections I found it was toggling between: Acquiring IP address and Connected". Each time I would get these pages I could arrow back and hit the link again and it would almost always go the the correct page. At work I don't have that problem, but my Local area connections shows "Acquiring Address and Connected". SBC said it was spyware so I ran a program, they said it was my browser and wanted to reinstall, I didn't buy that, then they said it was my network card. I removed and reinstalls the driver without any improvment. I ran Avast and found some virus, removed still no improvment. I ran Ad aware, spybot, MS spyware. Any ideas?

How are you connecting at home, via wire or wireless?

If you are connecting via wireless, tell us what wireless card is in your computer. Also tell us if you or someone nearby is may have a 2.4 GHz cordless phone.

Look at the DSL modem and see if the Ready or DSL LED is blinking when you look your connection.

Do you have any hum or static noise on your home phone line?

James, since the wireless or wired acted the same, I didn't think this was an interference issue.

Johnwill: I did the reset as instructed. My wireless works good again. Thank You! My SpeedStream modem that is cable connected is still acting up. When I look at Local Area Connection and click on the Support Tab it is toggling between invalid IP address/Automatic Private Address about every 45 seconds. I can surf the net without problem. Is there anything wrong? It does not seem right. I don't now if this is related, but I went to the Hijackthis. When I did the scan I found one suspicious program. It is
HKLM\..\Run:[NvpCplDaemon]RUNDLL32.EXENvQTWK,NvCplDaemonInitialze Anything to worry about? Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure what's happening with your modem, that does sound odd. OTOH, if you don't see any pauses, I think I'd do a spyware/malware search, just to be safe, and call it good. :)

As far as the other program, it's not harmful, here's what I found.

EXENvQTWK,NvCplDaemonInitialze - System Tray icon used to change display settings, change the clock rate and memory speed for nVidia based graphics cards. This is unnecessary since you can easily configure these settings the way you want them in the Display Properties and not have to mess with them again.

Thanks JohnWill, I run spybot, ad aware, avast, and norton. Do you have any suggestions for additional spyware or malicious software removal programs? Are the free down loads as good as a purchased versions? Thanks again.

I have abandoned Norton and use AVG or Avast! on my computers. I also use Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster. I have no issues with spyware/malware here.

I run Firefox and Spybot S&D along with AVG Free from Gristsoft. No issues what so ever.

May want to try the Ewido online scan as well.

As for the DSL link, if your DSL modem Ready or DSL LED is not always solid, you have something other that spyware issues to address! Unfortunately when your DSL link is unstable, it causes your local LAN connection to drop in and out unless you have a router between the DSL modem and router.
