installing dial-up modem in a compaq

my daughters compaq dial-up modem has went bad and we need to know how to install a new one we havent figured out how to do it because the back of the comp is riveted on please help

debi, Most compaq's panels off from the left side panel, they usual have two screws or thumb nail knobs which unfasten, then the panel will side back and out to the side. But i am like OLdMN, need the know the model no. and name of it becafore i can continue to tell you. What ever you do don't touch the modem card before you discharge your body and don't forget to unplug the sys from power. Tell me more and I believe I can help you out.
The infor for modem and Sys name is on the back of the computer label.
