Difficult networking problem.

When I came into the office today only 1 out of 6 computers had access to the internet.

We are connected through a SBC DSL modem, connected to a Belkin router which is connected to a Linksys 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch model SD2008. Each computer including our Network Attached Storage is accessible through our office network and have Linksys Gigabit Adapters installed.

We can share files, transfer data, etc. The Network Attached Storage is accessible and files can be shared, opened, saved, etc. It is just the internet connection through the router where the problem seems to be occuring, with the exception of this 1 computer.

We've tried plugging the other computers directly into the router. We tried releasing and renewing IP Addresses. I even made sure the firmware for the router was updated.

One thing I did find odd was the individual IP configuration of each computer. The one computer that has an internet connection shows the Connection-specific DNS Suffix as Belkin (fine) and the Default Gateway as 192.168.2.1 (normal), but the other computers do not show anyting for these lines, just the IP Address and the Subnet Mask are present for each individual computer.

That is where I think the problem comes in. That is the only difference between the computers IP configuration.

We were up and running yesterday evening and the only difference was that we had to switch power outlets to the other side of the room because a wall was being painted and we had to let the painter get to that wall. No water, paint or anything has gotten on, or in the devices and again one computer on the network does have an internet connection.

I spoke with Belkin for about an hour and they were clueless. I was hoping someone here might have a solution.

Did you reset the router? It sounds like the router's not handing out the proper DHCP informtion when you obtain an IP address. Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults?
