[SOLVED] Limited or no connectivity and popular fixes

Message: This connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources.

If you are getting this message 1- You are a victim of a bug which might be generated after sp2 upgrade 2- Most likely malware corrupted your system.

If you are getting this message however you are able to access to the network and internet you can disable the notification. Control panel > Network connections > your network (double click) > properties and uncheck Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity.

If you are not able to access your network or internet you can try the Microsoft Patch and the recommended registry tweak . ( [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPSec]
"AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule"=dword:00000002 ) and reboot your computer.

Also WinFix_XP is a very populer tool which resets Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP. Very useful. You might need to run it 2-3 times and reboot your computer.

If above did not work wise path to take will be a repair installation of windows if you dont want to spend a good deal of time on this problem.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset [log_file_name]

Note: the log_file_name needs to be specified, e.g. netsh int ip reset reset.log
