Help With IP in Games

I Have DSL from Alltel and a speedstream 5200 modem when i try to host a multiplayer game the game shows my ip address as 192.168.244 or something like that i know thats not the right address how can host a game my friend has the same setup so he can't host either will a static ip fix it or bridging or port forwarding please help i have the manual for the modem but i dont know what to try i don't want to mess up anything

You need port forwarding for this. Look in the documentation for the way to do it.

Afterwards, in order to host the game, you'll need to reference your external IP address with whatismyip.com

Thanks Fox Do I have to forward all ports or just certian ones?
