DSL connection problem in the UK
Hi, I've got a problem with a DSL (cable) connection via an NTL (UK ISP) broadband modem. This computer (1) will not connect via the modem but it will connect via an ADSL router at my office. My laptop will connect via the broadband modem where computer (1) is situated and will not connect. The ethernet card is good because it works via ADSL in my office, the DSL (cable) connection is good because it works with my laptop. So, the issue is computer (1) won't connect via DSL (cable) connection, but all the components work individually, weird...
The tech people at the ISP haven't got a clue except to talk about having 'wrong IP addresses', I don't know anything about this so can anyone help? |

Well, you didn't include any detailed information, but my guess is your DSK account requires a name/password and PPPoE, and you haven't configured the connection properly. Without info, this is just a guess.

Thanks John
John
Thanks for answering... I don't know what a DSK account is and I don't know what PPOe is? I am am ashamed I don't know what info you need either; my experience every other time with DSL is it just picks up an IP address and away it goes. I typed CMD in 'run' and then typed 'ipconfig' (the ISP guys idea) and it said something about couldn't find or there was a problem with 'DHCP' Any ideas would be gratefully received |
