modem problem

Hi .
Can any one help, I was having a problem with my pc ,I reinstalled windows xp but now windows does not detect my modem and to make things worse i cannot find the disc to install it ,how do I get it to auto install I have tried and tried help

If you know the exact make and model you can use another computer and go to the manufacturers site and download the drivers onto a floppy disk[usb drive] If you're talking about a broadband modem it could be worth trying, if its a dial up 56k type, they are so cheap now it'd be simpler to just get a new one. Under £1O in the UK.[$14-$16]

A pc repair shop near me gets loads of old 56k modems when people upgrade etc, and they refuse to pass them on unless they have the drivers disk.....they say it's so difficult to find and d/l the right drivers.
