How do I change my IP address?

I couldn't find the relevant section for this post so I hope this will do.

Recently I got banned from a forum. It was no fault of mine, it was due to the webmaster favoring someone else over me because of political correctness...I shall spare you the gory details!

Anyway, I love that forum and would sincerely love to rejoin. In order to do this I would like to change my IP address and I want to do it in such a way that the webmaster of the forum is unable to link my old IP to the new one.

I know how to use a proxy server but I find it too much hassle to be honest. I want to simply change my IP once and once only.

Does anyone know a foolproof way of doing this?

If you use dial up, they should assign a new IP each time. If you use broadband, your ISP may be able to help.

With cable or DSL, sometimes power cycling your modem does it. Sometimes it doesn't. I've heard of ISP's that will refuse to change it because of the sheer amount of such requests.

sometimes /ipconfig release then /ipconfig renew will do it (completely depends on your isp)

also you can unplug your router before you go to sleep and when you wake up plug it in and it mgiht change (also depends on isp i think)

also you can try using a network proxy

I don't know specifically how to do this, and whether or not you can easily find out. However, I do know that it can be done, and should work for your case.

If you can find out a way to 'spoof' your IP address, that should take care of your problem. Again, don't know where to start, other than google-ing it.

I am not sure this is a question we can answer in the open forum. If we tell you how to do this with another site, a user we ban can use the same information to get back on here.

Spoofing is illegal unless you own the computer which the IP you're spoofing belongs to.

It depends on your type of internet connection:

1- If you use dialup, simply use a different dialup number.

2- If you are using cable/dsl, try turning your modem (and router) off overnight

Usually the cable/dsl ISP will reissue a new IP when you reconnect.

If all else fails, use an IP Changer like this one [link removed].. that way you don't technically need to change ip permanently.
