Modem problem, please help.
Okay, this is a very odd thing. I have Sprint DSL nad run their Prestige 645M-A1 modem, I can connect to it with telnet using my password, but when I try to access it from http, my browser asks for username and password, as far as I know... there is no username, just a password, yet my password doesn't work here.
Why is this a problem? Well I'm trying to run Apache web server, I configured my router(yes, I'm on a small 3 computer home network, setup by me) to let my computer run a web server, and it will work if I type in http://localhost/ but this is kind of stupid seeing how no one else can view it. Back when I had dial-up, a ran a server just to show friend scripts and the serve files etc. (not a high traffic deal, it worked fine)... all I had to do was give people my IP Address and they could see my directory listing, etc. But when I go to someone elses computer and type in my IP Address it doesn't work, like, says it's not their... and when I try on my computer, it comes up with a "Prestige 645M-A1" logon prompt, my problem is, I want it to display my Apache server when my IP is typed... 192.168.2.X --- Router 192.168.1.1(X?) --- Modem My IP --- Modem What I want it to do: My IP --- Apache Basicly, I want to know how others can access what I see when I type "localhost" when my IP is accessed. Not that it matters, but I plan to run a small web site with a .tk domain :D, but I ran into this problem. Any help would be GREAT, I can't find any sites that explain this, thank you. --RedHatCore EDIT: Oh, and if it helps anyone that wants to help me, when I use the program netinfo to scan my IP for services, port 80 is open, so I don't think it's firewalled? But oddly FTP is also open, is that sprint's doing? Last edited by RedHatCore : 07-01-2005 at 05:30 PM. |
