Dont you love them connection problems?

Im sure alot of threads have been posted about connection problems, but the other threads are realy complicated with all this computer talk (realy confusing stuff). Here is my problem. I have 3 computer connected to a wireless router. 2 are connected by cable, the other wireless. Every once in awhile, I get disconnected then 10 seconds later it reconnects. It does this, either every ten minutes or every 30 minutes. During typing this I already lost connection :p. I have tried connecting it directly It will let me get right back to the interenet, but then....tada,I loose my connection again. I use charter pipeline by the way. I have tried to rearrange the cable cords, unsuccessful. I was thinking of just getting Sbc-Yahoo dsl. Maybe my problems will go away, I dont know. Your gratitude would be much apreciated. Oh, and Im sorry if you get tons of other threads, that are similar, but I dont understand the complicated stuff. If you could keep it simple

thank you. Oh and ive stayed positive this whole time even though im ready to strap explosives on my body and jump into charter's office.

I want to make sure I understand before we get to far. Are you saying the internet connection goes out on all 3 computers at the same time? It also does this if you are connected directly to the cable modem? If this is so, what do the lights on the cable modem do when you lose a connection?

Well, sometimes the activity blinker disappears. Other times, Its still there blinking like it should be and we are still disconnected. Sometimes it says we are connected and we arent, very confusing. I lose connection to all three, by the way. I lose connection directly also, either the blinker is gone or its not. every great once in a while the the online light blinks likes it wants to connect but it doesnt. With router or without. If I lose connection using the router I remove my cable and plug it in directly, after a few mintues of working I get disconnected again. Which is the same as the other cable connected one. The wireless one just cuts out also.

Sounds like you need to detemine what portion of the network is dropping out. I have heard some other Charter Pipeline issues.

You may need a cable amp, however, this is just a guess.

Lets start here:

Start, Run, type "cmd" then press enter.
In the black box type "tracert 67.29.170.1 > c:\tracert.txt"

Go to my computer, click on the C drive, find and open c:\tracert.txt and then copy this info for the machine and post it back here for review and comment.

Once we have the tracert info, we will give you additional direction on pinging your ISP on the first hop from your location.

Looks like your provider may be blocking route tracing or something else may be wrong??

Do the following:

Start, Run, type "cmd" then press enter.
In the black box type "ping 67.29.170.1 > c:\ping.txt"

Go to my computer, click on the C drive, open c:\ping.txt and then copy this info for the machine and post it back here.

Start, Run, type "cmd" then press enter.
In the black box type "ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt"

Go to my computer, click on the C drive, open c:\ipconfig.txt and then copy this info for the machine and post it back here.

You may need to open multiple DOS windows and perform continous pings to multiple locations at the same time "ping xxx -t"

Ping www.charter.net, your DNS servers, your default GW and the IP address I provided to see what part of the network is dropping out.

Your ping times to devices within the Charter network should be around 20-25 ms
