He can ping mine, But I can't ping his...

My friend (XP-Home, Verizon DSL, Linksys BEFW11S4 v.2) and I (XP-pro, Insightbb cable, Linksys BEFW11S4 v4) are setting up Remote Admin v2.2 (download.com) on both machines for assisting each other on various PC/Networking/coding issues.

We forwarded ports on each other's routers, double checked default port #s (no typing errors), we added "radmin" ports in the Windows Firewall exceptions tab. He is able to successfully ping my NAT IP and radmin onto my XP no problem...cool!

However....I cannot ping his NAT IP, nor can I radmin from my XP-Pro to his XP-Home machine. He radmins to me, but I can't to his. We use a simple utility ip2.exe that gives our WAN ips. I've compared router settings...I'm overlooking something here.

1st off, what key settings should be made on the router to allow the public (me) to ping his router? I think once this issue is resolved then I'll have success.

"Block Wan Request" (disabled on both machines). Other setting e.g. "Multicast Pass through", "IP Sec Pass...", "PPTP Pass...", I'm not sure about, but I'm an experimenter type and am now asking for help, I'll be continuing to look in the documentation .
.

Any suggestions?...thanks newbie jay

Other than allowing PINGs from the WAN side, I can't think of anything. Just a thought, have you considered swapping routers for a test to see if it's a router issue or something else?
