Start, Run, type "cmd" then press enter. In the black box type "ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt"
Go to my computer, click on the C drive, open c:\ipconfig.txt and then copy this info for each machine and post it back here. JamesO |

See if you router has a reset button or hole. Sounds like the router has locked up. If you do not see a reset button, try unplugging it for several minutes. At the same time unplug the DSL modem. Plug the modem back in 1st. After all the lights come on, plug in the router. Then try the ipconfig again.

Here a few items I see that are of concern:
Media State. . . . . . . . . . . .:Media disconnected Not good. It shows this for both the wired and wireless connection. Means the Ethernet cable is not connected or it does not recognized the box on the other end. Maybe you are using the wrong type of cable, bad NIC or maybe it was not connected when this ipconfig /all was run?? Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes This is good Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.80.101 Not good. This is a Windows default address when there is a problem with either the DHCP or the Ethernet connection. I think the problem is the Ethernet connection. At least when you gathered this data it appears the computer was not connected either wirelessly or hardwired to anything. Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Not good. But you do not have a Default Gateway due to the Ethernet connection not working and therefore DHCP cannot work. JamesO |
