USB to ethernet conversion problem

I am setting up a wireless router. Problem is it uses an ethernet cable for the install process and I set up a USB connection to my Motorolla surfboard. When I try to reinstall the Motorolla surfboard using the ethernet option, the pc is not finding an ip address for some reason. Any ideas? I read a previous thread that mentioned this topic and someone advised to power-cycle through the surfboard, does this mean simply turn it off and on before I try the reinstall on the surfboard?

...OK, I tried unplugging the motorola sb inbetween reinstalling it with the ethernet setting. Still is not finding my IP address using the ethernet, but works fine when I go back to the USB.

Problem fixed (aren't you happy?). Solution is that not only do you have to power down the motorola sb, you also must unplug the cable to it, and reboot. Glad I could help.
