Actiontec blocking outisde connections
I installed Apache on my computer, and everything works fine from the loopback end (localhost, 127.0.0.1), but when I type in my hard IP addy or an alias, I get an actiontec configuration page.
How can I get it to skip this and go to my apache server? the alias is dumberdrummer.dyndns.org Can anyone else see the actiontec thing, or is it just me?

I think you need to tell us something about the environment. I'm assuming that Actiontec is the name of your router/modem? How about the make/model of any networking equipment, the ISP you use, and what O/S this is on.

My bad.
This is a windows XP Box, my ISP is qwest, actiontec is the modem manufacturer, GT701-WG is the model number. The modem is linked via an ethernet cable to my computer, nothing else is attached.

First off, you are on the other side of the NAT layer provided by the Actiontec, so only you can see the status you're using. However, since there is a NAT layer, you have to open ports to allow your web server to be seen from the outside. To access the setup screens of the internal router, http://192.168.0.1 should do the trick. I'd jump right to Advanced Setup and the Port Forwarding page, port 80 is the place to start for a web server.

Well, I set 80-80 to forward to my IP on TCP, saved and reset, and it didn't work
I enabled DMZ, after googling for a bit, and it still won't work. Any ideas?

If you enabled your server's IP address in the DMZ, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, unless something else is blocking the access. Do you have a firewall on the system in question? If you put it in the DMZ, I suggest you WILL want one, but you also have to configure any software firewall to allow access.
Try going to Network Tools and PINGing your public IP address from there. You'll need to get that working before you can access the web server from outside your local network.

I can ping it from there...all 10 tests go through...
I have ZoneAlarm Pro, but I'm not getting "connection lost" or "couldn't connect to server" messages, I'm just getting rerouted to the actiontec page. I tried opening port 80 on ZA, but that didn't seem to work. I even shut it down temporarily, and it didn't work.

Very strange, I don't know anything about that modem, this normally is not that difficult.
