ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
Hi. I hope this is the correct forum for this post.
Just wanted to know if somebody may be able to help me with the following? I use a USRobotics 9108A ADSL Modem/Wireless Router and in the last 48 hours have added a Linksys SPA2102 ATA. I cannot access the set-up interface on the ATA when my computers are connected to the USR Router. When I enter the IP address (192.168.0.1) nothing happens. If I ping that address from either of my pc's I get "Request timed out" messages. If I conect one of the PC's directly to the ATA, I can then access the set-up interface, but I then can no longer access that pc via the network. The IP address for the USR Router is 192.168.1.1 Any help on what parameters I need to change in my USR Router or ATA would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Harry |

Re: ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
How do you have it connected? I connect my VoIP box to a LAN port on the router. If you have it connected directly to the modem and the router going through it, that will probably create a problem.
I have no problem connecting to my Linksys VoIP box in that configuration.

Re: ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
Hi. The VOIP box is connected to a LAN port on the USR router.
Calls are working through the VOIP box in this configuration, just can't access the interface. Regards Harry |

Re: ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
Well, it doesn't make sense you can't access the Interface. Of course, it also doesn't make sense that the box would be in a different subnet than the router, I have no idea how it could ever work that way connected on the LAN side of the router. I have to believe you're mistaken about it's IP address. Since you can't access it's interface, what makes you think that's the correct IP address?

Re: ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
The VOIP box has 2 x RJ45 ports on it. One is labelled Internet, which is currently connected to the Router and another port is labelled Ethernet which I have nothing connected to it. There are 2 other ports labelled phone 1 & phone 2 which are obviously for the phones.
If I run an Ethernet cable to the PC from the port labelled Ethernet , then I can access the interface via the ip address 192.168.0.1. The Linksys documentation also states that is the address for the interface. In the end it is not a major issue. If I do need to access the VOIP interface then I just need to temporarily repatch my Ethernet cables, but would be good to not have to do this. Regards Harry |

Re: ADSL Router and VOIP ATA Connection
OK, I see. I have a different Linksys VoIP box with a single connection. That box has a NAT layer, so the WAN site will be on the 192.168.1.x subnet with an automatically assigned IP address. The LAN side (which you are connecting to) can't be on the same subnet, since the NAT wouldn't work.
See if there is a remote adminstration feature in the configuration, that will allow you to connect through the WAN IP address and access the management features.
