Help with Mobile Broadband

Okay, I am obviously computer illiterate but there has to be someone who knows all about internet connections etc. My sister has my older desktop PC and I always had it hooked to a wired DSL connection through out local phone company with a modem. She bought one of those Cricket Broadband modems and plugged it in. I guess it works like dialup. It appears to load up fine and it same it is connected but it will not load up the internet at all. There are LAN that are unplugged. Is it supposed to be plugged into something else? Do I need some sort of adapter to make it work? It only lists the Cricket broadband under Network Connections dialup. Under that where it says "LAN and HIGH SPEED INTERNET" nothing is connected. So, if there is someone out there that can explain this in simple layman terms if this is going to work with the just the broadband modem or if I should try something else. I would appreciate the help. Thanks
