Wireless Connection Problem
I've just put in a new wireless router because my old one just stopped working. I can connect perfectly with my desktop but I can't do anything with my laptops trying to connect wireless.
The router is a cisco linksys WRT110 My laptop is a Compaq Presario V2000 running XP. It came with "Linksys EasyLink Advisor", a program to setup connections. I click add device and once I've gone through the options it comes up telling me to put a removable media device in the computer. I do this and it gives me a program to load onto my laptop. All is looking good until I actually run it on my laptop. The program opens and asks if I would like to be added to the network, I click OK and nothing changes. It says I'm added but I can't connect to the network and nothing changes on the easylink advisor. When I try to select the network on my laptop it attempts a connection and then says "Windows is unabled to connect to the slected netowrk. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." I get this message whether I'm 2 feet or 10 metres away. It doesn't ask me for the WEP key. Re: Wireless Connection Problem
When I disable WEP and try to connect it will get as far as "waiting for the network" and then just stop without connecting.
