Exclamation Choosing a Router and PCI card

Im in the process of purchasing a Desktop security system (DVR, Security cameras and software) all i need now is a router and wireless card. The system will be put in apartment building on the second floor and there will be a home base system in the basement. The basement system will have DSL and the new router. The purpose of the homebase is to view and control the second system and maybe record in the future and to view on the internet if possible. The distance from basement to second floor is around 40 to 50 feet.

I need bandwidth, range a router and card that wont drop the signal if possible....HELP

Re: Choosing a Router and PCI card

Hi,
Please provide me a clear picture about the network.

Are you going to place the Security system in the second floor or a Computer to view the cam?

The wireless card is for the Pc or for the Security System?

Can you provide me the blue print of the network and the model number of the device you are using?

Regards,

L8ians

Re: Choosing a Router and PCI card

Sorry for the lack of info...The second computer (desk top PC) where the security camera will be recording is on the second floor which will have the wireless card. The basement computer will be homebase desktop which i will have DSL and the new router that you suggested.

I forgot to mention that the security software that records on to the hard drive and uploads to the internet and controls the camera's is on the second floor....Both computers are PC and operating system is XP..

At this present time the security system is not set up so i have no router or PCI wireless card purchase. The router and PCI card are the last two pieces of hardware i need to purchase. They have to handle what im asking...HELP

As for blue print try to draw something and make a pdf...as for model numbers ar u asking for the camera or something else??

Thanks
