PC freeze due to router
Hi
I have a pc that completely freezes randomly. Most of the time it happens about 3 minutes after i logged on, sometimes as long as an hour. I have tried solving this but dont really know where to start! Mouse and keyboard completely stops responding (cursor wont move) and the num lock light does not go on and off when hitting num lock(when it crashed). I am using XPpro SP3. On a Core2Duo machine wit 2 gig ram and about 170gb free space on hdd. I believe that one of the culprits for these kind of freezes are display cards not functioning - i am using a geforce7200, which i installed because a couple of months ago my onboard display adapter "broke", according to the pc shop. A couple of days preFREEZE i installed a WiFi dongle to connect to and ADSL modem. I have noticed it only happens when the dongle/router is plugged in and i am online. i have not left the pc on for more than an hour without it plugged in, but im pretty sure it has something to do with it. I also ran compmgmt to view a system log of all errors that occurred, but obvoiusly that's quite long, so i will attach a screenshot of it. Is there someone who had a similar problem or a crashing pc due to a wireless device? that is, IF it is the source of the problem! |

Re: PC freeze due to router
If it only crashes with a wireless connection, try a wired connection and see if it still happens.

Re: PC freeze due to router
i dont have cable! i installed malwarebytes, registry healer and panda security and scanned. both malware and panda found an assortment of trojans and adware and removed it. My last attempt was to reinstall windows. i chose the upgrade option, because if i reinstalled it i will probably lose my software and data. Although, when i chose the upgrade option windows asked me to disable any anti-virus software, because something prevented it from writing to C:/. i disabled all anti-virus software and still got the same message. Which course of action should i take to reinstall windows and not lose my installed programmes?
