WRT54G2 constantly going to local only and needing to be unplugged..
I am using a Linksys Cisco WRT54G2. I constantly need to unplug it and plug it back in to get the internet working again. The PC that it is connected to does not lose the internet, but all of the laptops in the house get "local only" connection two or three times a day. It is driving me NUTS. I have updated the firmware, what else can I do???

Re: WRT54G2 constantly going to local only and needing to be unplugged..
Did you reset to factory defaults and reconfigure? If not, that's frequently a cure for many oddball router ills.
Do the wireless machines have good signal strength? You might need a hi-gain antenna if this is a signal strength issue. You might also consider changing the wireless channel on the router.

Re: WRT54G2 constantly going to local only and needing to be unplugged..
I have reset the factory settings, reinstalled everything onto my laptop instead of the old desk top, still no difference. All of the computers that receive wireless from it in the house have high signals.

Buy a new router.
