Wireless connection, disconnecting very regulary.

I don't get it, my wireless connection is disconnecting very regulary.

Here is the low down, I'll be playing any form of online game and every so often (pretty often as well once every 30 minutes to an hour) my connection will disconnect and windows will reconnect me after about 30-40 seconds). This can either happen once, or many many times in a row. I get terrible latency despite running dsl. The router is linksys, (im begining to loathe them, however my network card is fresh out of the box **also linksys, the router is a few years old.)

1. I tryed updated my driver for my network card, uninstalled and reinstalled. Problem still occurs.
2. I tryed reseting and recreating the connection as secured, the problem still occurs.
3. It seems there is 2 connections, the original unsecure connection and the one I made, apparently I didn't see it and I need to remove it possibly somehow?

4. The main computer is fine, it does not bug out at all, or atleast the use of said computer is only for browsing so I doubt even if it did have a problem it would not present its self.

Any advice???

Re: Wireless connection, disconnecting very regulary.

Hi there, what kind of signal are you getting ? another thing you can try is to go into network connections by clicking start, control panel, network connections and right click on your wireless adapter there choosing properties. at the bottom you should see 2 boxes there that are checked off. uncheck the bottom one and let me know if this helps you ok.

sorry no this did not help, this was already disabled (bottom box being unchecked) and I typically get "Very good" 54.0mbps.

Re: Wireless connection, disconnecting very regulary.

Some things you can try here, listed in the order you should try them.
  1. For wireless connections, remove all the stored wireless profiles and search for networks. You'll have to enter the encryption key again, which is sometimes the issue for connection problems.
  2. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  3. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  4. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.
  5. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  6. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
