Can modem cause computer to power off?
I recently installed an AT&T 2Wire wireless modem (gateway). I have 3 computers attached to the gateway via ethernet cables. I also have a laptop running wireless from the gateway. Two of the computers are plugged into an APC surge protector (which has worked fine for years) and the other computer is plugged into its own surge protector. About every 2 days the three computers attached to the modem power off spontaneously. The modem stays on, as does all the other electronic equipment in that room. I've called AT&T several times and they keep telling me the gateway should not be able to do that, but I did not have this problem until I installed their product. Prior to this we had a netopia modem and a DLink router. The gateway is working great except for this problem. Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: Can modem cause computer to power off?
A modem can't turn off a computer.
Bes practice is to plug the modem power directly into a wall outlet instead of a surge strip. Sounds strange but it's true!
