Bought a new HP pavilion dv6 and it says I have no modem

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6t-1200 (vista) and it says I have no modem. I thought all computers came with a modem installed with them. I have a desktop also and have a dial up modem for it. I thought I would be able to use the laptop in the same manner. How do I know which modem to get?

Modems are rarely included in anything but laptops. Any PCI modem should work fine.

Hi,
Seeing this is a laptop (HP Pavilion dv6t-1200) I do not think a PCI modem will work.
If this laptop did not come with a modem you may need to get a PCMCIA card (If you have a PCMCIA slot).

D'oh, thought we were talking about a desktop machine.

There are also PCMCIA cards with built-in phone jacks! I have a few of those myself.
